OSO-AI in the CNIL sandbox: strategic support for responsible sound AI

The CNIL has launched a new edition of its sandbox, a unique device designed to support innovative projects in their development, in particular when they handle sensitive personal data. For this 4th edition, the CNIL sandbox has launched a call for projects for actors in Silver Economy. Among the six projects selected this year: OSO-AI and its AI sound detector, The Augmented Ear of caregivers.

The CNIL sandbox: a support framework for innovation

Created to help innovative project leaders, the CNIL sandbox offers reinforced support on legal and technical issues related to personal data. The objective: to allow projects that are already concerned about privacy to consolidate their approach with the expertise of the CNIL.

For this edition, the CNIL has selected 3 innovative projects, intended to improve the quality of life of elderly people, while guaranteeing the responsible and compliant use of personal data. OSO-AI, O₂ and Neural Vision will benefit from 6-month support on these subjects by the CNIL teams, in particular through its artificial intelligence service. OSO-AI: a sonic AI at the service of healthcare professionals

OSO-AI is developing a Sound AI capable of automatically recognizing distress signals in institutions: falls, calls for help, vomiting... Thanks to this acoustic monitoring system, caregivers are alerted in real time, without the need for worn devices or cameras. One discreet, non-intrusive technology designed to enhance security while respecting the privacy of residents.

By joining the CNIL sandbox, OSO-AI benefits from a privileged framework for refining its approach to the protection of personal data, as close as possible to the expectations of the regulator.

At the beginning of July, OSO-AI had the pleasure of welcoming members of the CNIL team to its offices in Brest. Concrete discussions around sound as personal data, alerts and field uses.

The integration of OSO-AI into the CNIL sandbox represents reinsurance for medico-social institutions. It reassures them about the compliance process undertaken around this Sound AI, and underlines the OSO-AI's desire to anticipate the legal and ethical challenges associated with the use of sensitive technologies in healthcare environments.

But beyond the medical-social sector, this type of initiative involves a strong societal challenge : that of showing that the emergence of tools based on artificial intelligence can (and should) be accompanied by a demanding framework that respects individual freedoms. The CNIL sandbox thus contributes to building a framework of trust for innovation, in which AI is becoming a lever in the service of the common good, not a threat.
