RTS report: Humilimont EMS innovates with OSO-AI

RTS report: Revolution in progress at the EMS in Humilimont in Switzerland

Humilimont EMS innovates and draws the attention of RTS in a report devoted to the transformation of the sector. The establishment is experimenting with the OSO-AI solution, a technology developed in France, capable of differentiating, thanks to acoustic monitoring by AI, more than a hundred situations, including fifteen requiring immediate staff intervention (such as falls or respiratory distress).

A new way of taking care

“The work itself hasn't changed, but the way we care for residents has evolved. It is reassuring to have a tool that constantly monitors.” testifies Mario Macedo, head nurse.

The system also adapts to privacy issues: as soon as a third party is detected in the room, it is automatically deactivated in order to guarantee confidentiality.

A response to a reality on the ground

The starting point for this adventure is clear: only 15% of EMS residents were able to use a sick call. As Jeannette Pugin, resident, testifies:

“It's not always easy to press the sick call, you have to have strength... I don't have any.”

To remedy this situation, the Humilimont EMS installed the OSO-AI solution, which now makes it possible to automatically detect situations requiring intervention, without the resident having to trigger the alert himself.

Everyday benefits

Since the start of the test in Marsens over a year ago, the system is constantly improving. It also provides valuable information to better support residents, especially about their sleep.

“For us this is important: we can see from the alert report whether it was initial or late insomnia, which allows us to readjust the treatment.”, continues Mario Macedo.

Already more than a hundred establishments in France, Switzerland and Scandinavia are equipped. In Marsens, as elsewhere, experience confirms that it is indeed a silent revolution in the way of ensuring the well-being and safety of the people accompanied.

A big thank you to Humilimont EMS and its teams for their trust and their commitment to this adventure. Thanks also to the RTS and to journalists Nicolas Beer (TV report) and Julie Marty (article) for their work and for shedding light on this initiative.
